I can see it already.  Me, standing on my little soapbox with a group of you crowded around me, ready for your bowel cleanses.  I’d say to you all:

“Ladies and gentlemen, today is a day… that will live in INFAMY!”

Okay, maybe not that.  But something like that.  Because for those of you that are ready to a bowel cleanse, this really is going to be an “interesting” trip.  Really, in no way am I exaggerating.  At least for me, it’s going to be a while before I do something like this again.

But it was worth it.

Before we get started though, we’re going to need to cover some basic principles and rules that you need to know prior to diving in.  Just like before playing a new game, most players are advised to learn the fundamentals and rules in order to perform well, we’re going to have to go over the bowel & colon cleansing “regulations” before we get started.  If players did otherwise, sports would probably be just a series of random people running up and down fields doing whatever it is they felt like.  And there would be a lot more injuries too.

And trust me, no one wants an injury while playing the sport “Bowel Cleanse.”  That’s just gross.

HOW DID YOU BOWELS GET CLOGGED IN THE FIRST PLACE?

At this point, if you haven’t already asked the question, “How did my bowels get clogged in the first place?”  I’m going ask if for you…

YOU: “So Ray, How did my bowels get clogged in the first place?” =)

ME: “Wow, anonymous, I’m glad you asked such a question.  Let me tell you.”

It wasn’t until just a couple hundred years ago that people were able to exchange food across cultures during all times of the year.  Before that, man had to survive on winter foods during the winter, summer foods during the summer, spring foods …

However, these days, if you wanted a banana during the winter, all you had to do was go the grocery market and BAM, there’s there banana.  You could banana’s year round if you wanted to.  And some people do.  Some people at the same foods all year, 365 days every day whenever they want.

So what’s wrong with eating the same foods all day every day?

Our bodies aren’t designed like that.  There’s no balance.  Just like the four seasons rotate through the year, our bodies need to go through building and cleansing cycles.  Just take a typical day for example.  Can most people go on for 24 hours without sleeping?  If you said yes to that, I’m not talking about pulling an all-nighter.  But most people usually don’t do that.  Why?

Our bodies need rest, then we get up and do things.  We work out, eat, do whatever it is that we need to do, then we rest again.  It’s a cycle.  Imagine what would happen if you tried to fight this natural cycle that your body has been programmed to do for the last several hundreds of years (or however long the debatable theory is that human beings have existed on this planet).

Therefore, the theory is that when you’re not properly following how you should be taking care of your body according to the 4 seasons, it’s no wonder that you’re going to run into problems.  Basically, the general rule is to eat what that season supplies you with and to go through cycles of building and cleansing.  Generally winter supplies foods that are different from summer, etc…

If you’ve ever tried to fight your body’s natural tendencies like staying up for 24 hours or not sleeping when you’re extremely tired, you might be successful but you know it’s not doing your body good.  So don’t be surprised when you suddenly pass out after staying up for 72 hours straight.  Your body needs what it needs!

BOWEL & COLON CLEANSE BASICS

There are 3 things you need to know.

1.) Cleansing releases toxins into your body.  When you cleanse your body, it doesn’t just evaporate into thin air.  A lot of toxins, in order to rid a lot of the build up in your bowels, has to go through your body’s channels first before it can reach the outside world.  Not all of it is going to go straight to the trash where it belongs.  If our bodies were that efficient, that would be great, but unfortunately, things don’t always work out that way.

So various people who have done this before and are very experienced in cleansing and other holistic health theories such as Leo Kiesen, who wrote Acne Yoda, strongly recommend that you do not do a cleanse while pregnant or nursing.  This is because, if those toxins are released into your body, it’s possible they could affect your baby in a negative way.

2.) Pace yourself.  Cleansing will expel toxins into your system.  Don’t overwhelm yourself because you can end up poisoning yourself too.  It’s sort of like running the 500 meter dash.  You want to get from point A to point B as fast as you can.  But if you end up running and pushing yourself SO hard that you’re passing out in the middle and hyperventilating, then you may be missing the point.  So remember to cleanse properly, just like you want to run hard, but not to the point where you’re practically going to die.  Because no one wants to make out with a dead guy even if you do have clear skin. =)

3.) Cleansing is stressful on the body.  You want to make sure you pick the right time and place in your life to do a cleanse.  Winter is naturally very stressful on the system because of the climate while spring is a much better time.  Also, if you know if you have exams coming up or are going through an emotionally stressful time in your life, this would probably not be a good time to do a cleanse either.  Otherwise, you’re just going to exhaust yourself emotionally and physically.

BOWEL CLEANSING REGIMEN: GENERAL 3 Steps

I’ve done a bit of research of cleanses and I seem to like Leo Keisen’s advice when it comes to bowel cleansing.  He claims to have tried many cleansing programs before and seems to have solid and sensible advice.  He’s a great source of knowledge, so if you get the chance, you should definitely look him up.

This is general outline of what we’re going to be doing so that everyone has an idea of what we’re doing and what direction we’re going.

STEP 1.) Put Your Body In Cleansing Mode.  The theory is that if you’re body is digesting, it’s not cleansing.  Some people claim that the body can do both at the same time.  There’s a little bit of a mini-war going on this topic, so just to be safe, we’re going to stop you’re body’s digestive mode so that it goes into cleansing mode so there’s no mix up.

STEP 2.) Cleansing Catalyst.  I doubt many of us want to simulate the four seasons and wait an entire year or longer to go through cleansing.  So we’re going to “simulate” the cleansing cycle and use herbs, phytonutrients, and enzymes in order to speed up the process.  Hence the word “catalyst.”

STEP 3.) Toxin Expelling Agent.  So after we’ve broken down the build up and gunk in your bowels, we’re going to need help to get rid of it.  Sure we could let your body take care of it naturally, but that’s probably not a good idea based on the fact that we’re artificially releasing so much build up at once anyway.  So it’s definitely a good idea to supply a medium that will help your body expel these toxins that have been suddenly released through the cleansing.

My advice for everyone is to do a little bit of research before moving on to the next article where I talk about how to do actually PERFORM each of these steps individually.  It’s always a good idea to have a little bit of background knowledge on a subject.  Just like a master carpenter would say, “Measure twice, cut once.”

  5. This could be diverticulitis. Please see a doctor for antibiotics and proper diagnosis. Don’t let it go on too long or it could perforate (cause a hole) in the wall of the colon. I say this from personal experience…no fun! Feel better soon!

    Replacing Fruits as your source of sweets will be another great choice when dealing with acne. Simple carbohydrates allows the body to become acidic. An acidic body is a great environment for bacteria to produce in your body. Sweets also causes an increase blood sugar regulating insulin. Which causes skin inflammation.

      I agree, but recently, after having just finished final examinations. I have been struggling to pay my bills. As a result, I’ve been asking for more hours at my work. Most of the time, I’m too exhausted to anything else but sleep when I get home. Please let me know where that promised deadline link I had was, I’m going to have to change it.       That’s a good suggestion, Danny. I’m not trying to set dates and not meet them purposely though. But don’t worry, in the future I will definitely try to make it so that it’s convenient for everyone to know when someone is put up and “really” put up. =)
