Junk Food Does Cause Acne

By 04/17/2010November 9th, 2014Acne Free Diet, Snacks & Junk Food

I bet you wouldn’t believe me if I told you that the foods that you’re putting into your mouth are causing you to break out with acne. That is, if you’re eating the typical American diet.

The typical American diet of hamburgers, fries, chips, soft drinks, steaks, mash potatoes, etc, has a 1:30 ratio of omega 3 oils to omega 6 oils. You want a 2:1 ratio. Ridiculous huh? Well… you could be one of those people…

Can you see how there might be a problem?Could it be possible that the average American being overweight was not an accident? Could it be possible that obesity becoming the norm for the United States happened for a reason? And is it possible that you’re body might be reacting in a similar way, but with acne?

Let’s think about that for a minute. At this point, you probably already understand everyone’s body reacts differently when fed the same foods, given the same amount of rest, etc. You could give 10 people an apple, allow them each 5 hours of sleep, and throw them in the middle of the desert with only their underwear and get 10 different bodily reactions and results. To actually do that for the sake for proving my point would be inhumanely cruel, but I think you get what I’m talking about.

So if you understand that everyone’s body is different. Then could it be possible that when you’re body is off balance that it reacts differently too? Some people get tired, some get fat, some people get acne, and some people get malicious tumors. I guess if you think about it that way, at least we’re not in the last group.

So when it comes to unsaturated fats, you want 2 parts omega 3 to 1 part omega 6 to 1 part omega 9, 2:1:1. And the foods that you eat and the diet that you have should reflect that. This will allow your body the necessary essential fatty acid ratio to produce the right hormones to run your body with.

I GET UNSATURATED FATS, BUT WHAT ABOUT SATURATED FATS?

Don’t worry so much about saturated fats, as long as you’re getting your saturated fats from clean and healthy sources like mentioned in my previous article about fats and taking the proper dosage of unsaturated EFAs (essential fatty acids), you’ll be on the right track. Really, it’s the omega 6 fatty acids that you should be worried about and their ratio with omega 3.

WATCH OUT FOR THESE FOODS HIGH IN OMEGA 6:

Avocados
Most Nuts
Most Seeds
Most nut butters (Peanut butter)
Most vegetable oils (Exception: Flax, Hemp, MCT, Coconut Oil)

WHAT I’M NOT SAYING

What I’m not saying is that you should never eat these foods again. Remember, it’s about the RATIO. So you can eat these foods if you remember to balance it by taking in more omega 3 oils. Just as long as you’re getting that 2:1 ratio, you’ll be fine.

WHAT NOT TO DO

You NEED to eat fats.

Do NOT rule fats out of your diet. They are NOT bad for you. In fact, you need proper fat intake for your body to function properly in the long run.

Low fat diets will stunt your growth. Cultures that have consumed low fat diets, in the past, were traditionally smaller in stature. Studies have shown that when children from these cultures immigrate to the U.S. and adopt an American diet high in fats, they grow much larger in stature than their parents. The trade off is that they usually have shorter life spans too.

My assumption is that we need plenty of fats to grow and most American children eat diets that have that. But then they continue those diets and even taken up several notches when they’re adults. On top of that, the fats that they’re eating are probably not healthy sources because the typical American knows very little about food science or cares either. “As long as it tastes good,” they think, “I’ll have a Big Mac, supersized please with fries and some vanilla ice cream.” (Sighing…)

WHEN YOU’RE GROWING

When you’re growing you need a lot of fat in the proper ratio from the right sources. And the more athletic you are, the more fat you need.

AVOID THESE KINDS OF FATS… THEY CAN KILL YOU

Hydrogenated Fats: Horrendously bad. If a picture is a thousand words, let me show you a 10 minute clip…

Rancid Fats: Spoiled, oxidized, toxic, rancid, these all fall under the same category here: the “NO TOUCH” category! If you eat them, you’re basically swallowing a potion of free radicals. If you’re unfamiliar with free radicals, please read this article that I wrote: [FREE RADICALS ARE CUTTING YOUR BODY Link]

Processed or Refined Fats: These kind of fats have been through the manufacturer and have been “mutated” essentially. Or, what we learn in food science as “denatured.” The atoms and molecules have been morphed to a point where you’re body no longer recognizes them and cannot absorb or process them normally. They are toxic.

Heated or Fried Fats: You’re probably not going to believe me when I say this but… yes, it’s true, fried food is bad for you. I know, I know, I didn’t believe it either. I mean, I used to think, “What could be healthier than fried chicken, French fries dipped in oil, fried zuchinni, fried everything with tons of hydrogenated oils? Isn’t it ranked up there with vitamins and crystallized mountain spring water?” It turns out I was wrong =).

C’mon, if you don’t already know this one… and yes it does affect your acne. Heck, it affects your entire body.

Excess saturated animal fats with NO omega 3 fats: Like I said before, these fats are out of ratio. Plus, dirty sources of saturated animal fats clog your arteries because they’re solids at room temperature.

Any Fats Out of Ratio: Remember, 2:1 omega 3 to omega 6 or the very least 1:1 omega 3 to omega 6. That does NOT mean go to town on the omega 3 oils! Don’t just keep eating omega 3 and very little of 6! If you ingest too many omega 3 you can develop omega 6 deficiencies and vice versa. It’s all about the ratio.

Classic omega-6 deficiency symptoms
Eczema
Loss of hair
Liver and kidney degeneration
Behavior disturbances
Excess water loss through the skin accompanied by thirst
Drying up of glands
Susceptibility to infections
Failure of wound healing
Sterility in males
Miscarriage in females
Arthritis-like conditions
Heart and circulatory problems
Growth retardation

Classic omega-3 deficiency symptoms
Growth retardation
Weakness
Impairment of vision and learning ability
Motor incoordination
Tingling sensation in limbs
Behavior changes
High triglycerides
High blood pressure
Sticky platelets
Tissue inflammation
Edema
Dry skin
Mental deterioration
Low metabolic rate
Immune Dysfunction

Note that these symptoms don’t usually show up unless your condition becomes chronic (recurring and lasting). It’s also very unlikely that you have an omega 6 deficiency if you suffer from acne. So try not to panic if you see anything on that list you can relate to because I’ll admit, I freaked out a little the first time I read that list… “Crap! I have that… and that… and that…” =)

WHERE DO I FIND THESE HEALTHY FATS?

If you’ve been walking up and down the aisle at Ralphs or your local Krogers looking for coconut oil with no luck, you’re probably not going to find any in the next store either.

Like I said before about the information site, most people don’t even know…

You can usually find them on health websites or vitamin stores like GNC or Vitamin Shoppe. If you’re still unclear about what to look for or what exactly you should buy, don’t worry, I’m going to write an article and do a video as if we were vitamin shopping and I was standing right next to you.

I think there’s a lesson to be learned from all this: fat is awesome.

What Else Should You Eat for Clear Skin?

Keep Reading to Learn about the TRUE cause of acne

The bigger picture is something that you want to focus on.  It’s not about those one or two alcoholic drinks that will make you break out.  The bigger picture is getting your body to a place where you’re not breaking out anymore and you don’t suffer from acne.  Then, at this point, your body will be able to handle a few drinks here and there without having it aggravate your acne.

You’re going to need to really clear your acne though, I’m not talking about just washing your face or eating healthy.  It’s about eating the RIGHT kind of foods, the kind of foods that will really help your acne.  You’re going to have to learn about your body and really be in it for the long haul.  You can’t just pop in a pill to be acne free, because that’s not really a solution to acne anyway.  And if you’ve ever tried acne antibiotics, you probably already know that the results don’t last very long.  On top of that, at the very end of those acne antibiotics, you’ve probably done your body more harm than good.

If you still have break outs or suffer from acne, I know that all you want to do is clear your acne so that you can move on with this part of your life.  So I’m not going to try to settle with you with something that’s less than satisfying.

Let’s do it, let’s clear your acne.  I’ve been through all the products, the gels, the creams, the surgeries, the antibiotics, the pain, and the heartache.  As a previous acne sufferer, just like you, I’ve tried ALL the stuff whether it was cheap or … EXPENSIVE.  And I’ve finally found what works.

I’m warning you though, this isn’t just a cream that you put on your face.  You’re going to actually have to learn about your skin and your acne.  But if you’re not the kind of person that’s ready for that yet, you might want to go on to something else… like ProActiv.  However, if you’re ready to really clear your acne, I highly suggest you keep reading.

THE ACNE FREE DIET is designed to clear your acne quickly and naturally for long lasting and PERMANENT results so that you can look that girl in the eye and know that she finds you attractive and that she thinks you’re good looking TOO.  The best part is, I don’t focus on the external, short term solutions like pills or the next face wash like ProActiv.  My program is about clearing your acne naturally from the inside through the Acne Free Diet.

Best of all, it’s FREE for you to learn about.

So what are you waiting for?  Stop wasting your time on all those money hungry acne products, t’s time to LEARN and really clear your skin!

What Should You Do Next?

If you’re looking for where to start, whether you choose me or someone else, I highly recommend you start looking at the 2 main causes of acne: toxicity and deficiency. I talk more about this in my book 10 Things Every Acne Must Know for Clear Skin. Or, if you want to skip advance for the main course, check out the advanced course below:

I hope you all have gotten a kick out of reading this article as much as I have writing it. Please let me know if you have any thoughts, comments, or would just like to leave a funny pun (because I love those too ;).
