Does Exercise Cause Acne?

By 12/11/2013November 7th, 2014Acne Secrets, Blog, Things to use on your acne

On one hand, I want to have clear skin.

On the other hand, I want to exercise and be buff (or lose weight).

But what’s the point of exercising to look good if you’re breaking out with acne because of it?

Many of my readers end up asking me the confusing question: Does exercise cause acne?

Or, here are some other forms that you might be thinking of:

Does working out cause acne?

Will lifting weights cause me to break out?

Or how bad is running for my complexion?

I present to you, 8 cases:

  • CASE #1: ACNE + “RIGHT” DIET + EXERCISE
  • CASE #2: ACNE + “WRONG” DIET + EXERCISE
  • CASE #3: NO ACNE + “RIGHT” DIET + EXERCISE
  • CASE #4: NO ACNE + “WRONG” DIET + EXERCISE
  • CASE #5: ACNE + “RIGHT” DIET + NO EXERCISE
  • CASE #6: ACNE + “WRONG” DIET + NO EXERCISE
  • CASE #7: NO ACNE + “RIGHT” DIET + NO EXERCISE
  • CASE #8: NO ACNE + “WRONG” DIET + NO EXERCISE

I get these question all the time, so I’ve decided to write a short little article about it.  And I’m going to try to keep it as short as possible without getting into too much of the details.  Here are the  answers:

CASE #1: ACNE + “RIGHT” DIET + EXERCISE

If you have acne and the “right” diet –> DEPENDS on what this diet is (more on this later, but this is what my program is all about).

When you’re eating the right kinds of foods, your body will automatically do its job to heal your skin.  But if you already have acne, that also means that you’re body is already OFF BALANCE, and you need to get it back into balance.  Then you won’t have acne.

Unfortunately, working out also changes your body’s balance.

Don’t believe me?

Ask any body builder if having more muscle and working out changes their body chemistry.  They will tell you, at the very least, if they know the basics of exercise and physiology, exercise can change your:

  • Metabolism
  • pH Balance
  • ATP Process Rate

So without getting too stuck on Case #1, acne can happen depending on your diet here.  So it’s up to you (or me to teach you) the right diet.  Moving on!

CASE #2: ACNE + “WRONG” DIET + EXERCISE

If you have acne and the “wrong” diet –> YES, working out for you will cause you to break out with acne.

Basically you already have acne so your body is imbalanced.  You have the wrong diet or you’re trying to eat right but you’re still breaking out (which means that you’ve got the formula wrong) so your acne is probably getting worse / not improving.

And you’re exercising so you’re aggravating your acne more.

All in all, this is definitely a recipe for more a “YES,” you’re probably hurting your acne.

CASE #3: NO ACNE + “RIGHT” DIET + EXERCISE

If you don’t have acne and have the “right” diet –> NO, working out and exercising will NOT cause acne.

If you don’t have acne, your body is either balanced or your problems are NOT manifesting themselves through your skin and acne.  They could be hurting another part of your body that you just don’t see.  For those of you who don’t care because you can’t see it, then that’s okay, live on my friend (or maybe not for very long).

However, for those of you who do care, you still want to change your diet and get that right formula.  Just because you don’t have acne doesn’t mean you’re healthy.

That being said, just exercising, whether you’re exercising a little or very hard, should not cause you to break out.

BUT … if you don’t really have acne, then when you work out you notice that you also break out and get zits?  Chances are that your body is at the very EDGE and brink of becoming imbalanced.  At this point, anything could throw your body out of whack and cause you to breakout.

It could be sleep, food, stress, exercise, rain, weather.  This is one of those things that gets people confused.

Advise here, focus on the diet I teach.

P.S. For the sake of argument, I’m going to assume that “right” diet means you really know what you’re doing when you’re putting food in your mouth.

CASE #4: NO ACNE + “WRONG” DIET + EXERCISE

If you don’t have acne and have the “wrong” diet –> DEPENDS, you may get the occasional zits, breakouts, and whiteheads here and there.  But there’s a way that we can stop this that I’ll be explaining here.

This is similar to Case #3 in many ways, you may not have acne and that may mean that your body is balanced.  Or it could mean that you just don’t see it on the outside and deep down inside there’s a tumor growing in your stomach.

Or it could mean that you don’t have acne but once in a while you get pimples.

Let me just tell you this: if your body is TRULY balanced, the test here is: you should be breaking out at all.

Again, just to mention it one last time, just because you break out does NOT mean that you’re healthy.  Your body could be manifesting your problem in a much different way than the next person.

CASE #5: ACNE + “RIGHT” DIET + NO EXERCISE

If if have acne, are eating right, but are not exercising then you should be fine.  Or at least, you should be on the right track to getting your acne cleared.  Again, it’s just a matter of that “right” kind of diet.

If you have the right formula for clearing acne, you can do just about anything (like normal people) and not have to worry about breaking out.

Makes sense right?

“Normal” people, who don’t have an acne problem at all, don’t even THINK about, “If I exercise, will that cause acne?”

Let’s make it so that you can stop worrying about breaking out when you’re working out too.  It’s just too much trouble.

You’re already working out right?  What else do the fitness Gods want from us?

CASE #6: ACNE + “WRONG” DIET + NO EXERCISE

Even if you’re not working out, if you’re eating the wrong foods and you have acne, chances are that nothing will change too much.  You’re going to continue to break out and get new pimples everyday.

You’re going to need to change something, and it shouldn’t be exercising.  What good is having an awesome body when your face is covered with red blemishes and scars?

*WARNING*: What I’m about to say might hurt a little bit but it’s my truth.

You don’t want to be a “Butter Face” / “Butter Face.”  If you don’t know what that means, I strongly suggest that you Google it.

To the men, it’s like a fat, ugly woman who thinks she’s hot stuff because she’s wearing nice clothes.  It doesn’t matter that she’s got a nice bag or is wearing a nice heels.

To the women, it’s like a buff, good looking guy who’s working at a toy helicopter kiosk when he’s 30 and should move out of his grandma’s basement.  It doesn’t matter that he’s good looking.

At a fundamental level, we know that looks matter, for the sake of your time, let’s just make sure we concentrate your efforts on the right thing.

And it’s not their fault, they probably don’t know what you know about the relation between acne and food.

And if you concentrate on one thing, let it be curing your face of acne.  After that, you can work on your body.

Corollary: My point here is not to say that people are ugly, all I’m saying is that there are certain things  men and women usually find attractive.  And brutal truth is that, thus far, it’s pretty rare that I hear a woman say, “This is the one, I know he’s not ambitious, still lives with his parents, but he’s hot.”  Though I know women like this exist, it’s usually not the emotional healthy goal most of us are aiming for.  The same for men, I don’t think most men are aiming to bag a woman who is physically unattractive but has many masculine qualities such as dressing nice, making a lot of money, takes the lead.  And if you are such a man looking for these qualities in a woman so you don’t have to, we may need to redefine what it means to be a “masculine.”

CASE #7: NO ACNE + “RIGHT” DIET + NO EXERCISE

If you don’t have acne, are not exercising, but you’ve found that formula on this site for curing acne, then you should being seeings results on your skin, no problem.

CASE #8: NO ACNE + “WRONG” DIET + NO EXERCISE

Chances are here that you probably aren’t noticing anything too much with your skin.  Your body doesn’t manifest its problems through the skin.  So though you may be abusing your body, you don’t see it on the outside and may think that everything is okay (if you don’t think that everything is okay, congratulations, you’re already ahead of the crowd).

My advice to you still would be to change your diet because if you do, you could avoid many chronic diseases and health difficulties down the road.
