Before I knew what I know now about acne, I used to have something on my face at all times of the day.
I was constantly applying some sort of gel, cream, mask or something because at all times of the day, I was in the process of actively trying to heal my skin.
My thought process was that if I didn’t have something on my skin, that I wasn’t using my time wisely, I could be fighting acne right now but instead I’m just letting acne roam free or allowing another pimple to form or [insert whatever thought you may have here].
Does this sound familiar to you?
Have you ever thought that by applying this special facial product or secret facial wash, that it was going to cure your acne and then was disappointed to find out that it didn’t?
If you’ve thought or have had similar thoughts like this, this article is one that you do NOT want to miss.
Surprisingly, nobody has really addressed it before.
EVERYONE IS LOOKING FOR THE ACNE HOLY GRAIL
Everybody wants to find that one special face wash or cream that will be the end all be all. People are constantly looking for it all the time. Whether they’re at the mall, just talking with a friend, or watching TV and that particular infomercial comes on and catches their attention, most people who are concerned about their skin are looking for that ONE special product that’s going to change their lives.
Look at that woman’s beautiful skin on TV. Softly applying that cream into her face, her complexion is flawless. It must be because of the cream, I want to have skin like that. I am going to have skin like that if I have what she is using.
I have to buy it.
IT’S HAPPENED TO ALL OF US BEFORE
It finally comes in the mail or you’ve finally gotten home from the mall or beauty store and you can’t wait to try out this magical facial cream, scrub, wash that the beautiful woman on TV had or the sophisticated and elegant woman working behind the counter raved about.
You take it out of the box and you hold up the jar of mystical ingredients high up into the air. A beam of light shines down and encompasses the little glass container full of enchantment. An angel descends…
Okay… I may be getting carried away.
Basically, you try it. If it’s a cream, you put it on your face that night. If it’s a face wash, you wash your face with it that night. And if it’s a moisturizer, you moisturize your face with it that night.
A day passes, 2 days pass. Nothing.
4 days pass, 5 days pass. You begin to suspect you’ve been cheated.
A week passes, 2 weeks pass. Panic.
By the 3rd week, you’ve already lost most of that optimistic hopeful attitude that you had the first day you cheerfully sat down with your new facial cream toy.
By the middle of the 3rd week, you finally realize it.
You’ve been lied to. Again.
Sometimes it’s 3 weeks, sometimes it’s a few days, and sometimes all it takes is a few hours before you realize, “Crap, another several hundred dollars down the drain.”
SOUND FAMILIAR?
How many of us have been through this?
By now, if you’ve ever experience something like this, you probably know exactly what I’m talking about.
And I’ve been through it too. Many times. Too many times actually. Man… I could’ve saved so much time and money…
The only problem is that I didn’t know.
SO HOW CAN WE SOLVE THIS PROBLEM?
By knowing.
That’s what I’m here for. I’m here to tell you that the next facial product, skin care cream, whitening powder, moisturizing agent, blah blah blah, the list goes on is NOT going to be the special cure that ends up saving you from the terrible oxidation and inflammation terrorists!
Sure, those hundreds and thousands of dollars you spend on those external facial products might end up helping a bit here and there. But the bulk of the difference is going to be internal, NOT external.
WHY DON’T THOSE OUTSIDE FACE PRODUCTS WORK?
This example was told by Leo Keisen, another health guru who gave a great analogy about curing from the inside.
Just imagine that you have a small little pond in your backyard. Water is flowing in and water is flowing out. It’s smooth and serene, clean and pure. Then one day, the motor gets clogged and water stops flowing in and out. The water there remains stagnant, it’s not working anymore and you’re too lazy to get into the back of the motor and repair that little machine that makes the water merry-go-round do it’s little pond thing.
What’s going to happen to that pond after a week? After a month? After 6 months? A year? It’s going to get pretty disgusting. So you go out and buy some insecticide and pour it on your pond. It kills the little critters and your pond is clean again.
But you still haven’t fixed the flowing water and after another 3 or 4 months, it’s back to being dirty again with crawling insects and bugs all over it. So you buy more insecticide and do the same thing. And this pattern can continue indefinitely.
Except eventually those insects won’t die anymore because they’ve adapted to the chemical that you’ve been trying to kill them with.
The same thing is true with these facial products. You’re either trying to kill bacteria, temporarily clearing our pores, or [insert whatever other short term solution here], it’s all treating acne from the outside
Except in the case of acne…
