Touching Your Face DOES NOT Cause Acne

Recently I found an article titled “Why You Should Stop Touching Your Face” talking about several points of how touching your face is bad for you and can cause acne.

I disagree.

Here’s the article. But in case you don’t want to read the whole thing, I’m going to summarize and challenge the points here anyway.

Now, if you’ll take a seat ladies and gentlemen, let’s begin the discussion.

POINT #1: Hands down… touching your face is gross.

This is kind of true … excessive touching and unnecessary touching can be gross. But it also depends on how sensitive the skin on your face is currently. I do agree with a part of this paragraph in that touching your eyes or rubbing your eyes can cause exposure to bacteria which can cause an infection.

So I wouldn’t say gross, but it’s the same with any part of your body. When you touch your face, you’re exposing it to bacteria and it really depends on how strong your immune system is.

POINT #2: When getting touchy-touchy goes wrong.

Okay, this is one of those highly unlikely but still very possible scenarios that really can freak you out.

Yes, STDs, herpes and such do exist. And if you have contracted some sort of disease, absolutely be careful with where you touch! Of course, not only just your face, but anyone else!

If I had a sharp needle with a deadly virus on it, of course I wouldn’t be waving it around and touching all parts of my body. One could argue that we never know what we’ve been infected with so it’s better not to touch your face and I would agree with that.

However, unless you’re constantly exposed to unprotected sex with multiple partners or other high risk activities such as traveling to foreign lands or doing sketchy activities … not really sure this is applicable to most of us.

POINT #3: The real deal on breakouts and touching your face is…

Yes, I agree with this BUT … and I’ll get to that part in a bit. Touching your face CAN aggravate or the word the article uses is “trigger” a break out.

However, what they don’t talk about is that “normal” people touch their face and have nothing happen to them. Why? Because normal people don’t have to be so paranoid about a zit break out being triggered.

Their hormones are well balanced and they don’t have excessive toxins (well, this one depends on how healthy you are).

POINT #4: Not all body secretions are created equal.

This is true, no argument here.

POINT #5: Hands aren’t the only ways to transfer germs.

Yes, this is true. However, I don’t think we need to be paranoid about this. Other parts of our bodies touch things all the time and a lot of the time, nothing happens.

What we should be focusing our efforts on here is cleaning out our diets and the inside of our bodies. The average about of germ exposure we’re getting here and there on our bodies isn’t life threatening. So if you’re breaking out regularly and still getting pimples, that’s not normal.

And it’s not because you’re touching your face too much, it’s your diet. Focus on eating, what I call, an Acne Free Diet.

POINT #6: The proper technique to washing your hands is…

No argument here, definitely wash thoroughly and try to get under your nails too.

POINT #7: Touching your face isn’t an easy thing to stop doing

I think we, acne sufferers, touch our faces because we’re unconsciously cleaning. So yes, it is touch to stop touching your face because in the back of your head you keep wanting to clear your acne!

So you keep picking at your skin trying to get it clear. This is counterproductive though. I know because I was doing the same for years when I had acne. Instead, focus your efforts on clearing your acne from the inside.

Eventually, if you get the right formula, you’ll have clear skin in just 3 weeks with my program. And when that happens, you’ll be like everyone else.

And forget about your skin. Then you’ll stop touching it.
